A fanfic rec and a small batch of picspam

So first, the rec. The Servant's Master is a Yuletide fic about Thomas Beckett and Henry II that is fabulously evocative and well-written. Slash, but nothing more than PG-13. Go, go read. (I've discovered, apparently, that RPF only bothers me if the people involved are still alive. Go figure.)
Also, I saw There Will Be Blood today. I'm too lazy to post a full review, but if you want it, ask. I'd say, on the whole, worth seeing, but no need to run to the theater.
Alright, so today was freakishly cold. Single digits cold. And as most of our house is poorly insulated, the windows were covered in frost and condensation. And it inspired me to take pictures. So... here they are.

This was the frost that actually inspired the series of photos. It was over the washing machine, so I noticed it as I was doing laundry. So here are the better results from the resultant photos. All of them are either taken through windows, or of light and shadow coming from a window.

(This, boys and girls, is called a snow line. Heh.)

(This, I might add, is a broken barometer/thermometer combo. Pay no attention to the readings. Heh.)
And so, my photographic outing ended for the day.

Also, that first frost picture is incredible! I've never seen anything like it. I also love the picture of the chainmail against the sun. And the percipitation over the window overlooking the blue sky and tree.
Summarized: All the photos are awesome.

Date: 2008-01-20 01:42 pm (UTC)Daniel Plainview = A+ (and a tiny, not so well-considered crush)
The score = A+ (I really could go on about the music about as long as about Daniel/the performance)
The rest of the film = B. Or thereabouts. Though honestly, I'll just watch him act for 2 and a half hours with that music behind him, and be happy as a clam.

Date: 2008-01-20 03:22 pm (UTC)How strange is that. I mean, with these two, I would argue that I'm looking at them as characters in a play, but it's not true, because these are not Anouilh's Thomas and Henry.no subject
Date: 2008-01-20 03:24 pm (UTC)I first got sucked in by the Lawrence of Arabia fandom--ironically, also by lovely fic which was far more based on the person than the characters. ^_~no subject
